2022 Audi S5: Sporty & Sophisticated

This week in Carsfera we had the pleasure to test drive the 2022 Audi S5 Sportback Prestige. An amazing car that offers a sporty and sophisticated look without compromising luxury and performance.

Styles and Options

Audi offers the S5 in three versions: Coupe, Cabriolet, and Sportback, as the one we tested. It is available in three trims: Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige. The Prestige adds a 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen premium audio system (which is beautiful and balanced), heated rear seats, head-up display, automated parking system, traffic sign recognition.

The Prestige we drove also included another options: Sport package, adaptive suspension dampers, sport rear differential, warm weather package, massage seats in the front, leather upholstery, , black optic package, and much more that makes this car insane.

Under the Hood

The Audi S5 Sportback features a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 that delivers 349 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. It comes standard with an eight-speed automatic transmission, with manual shift mode.

Interior Style

The S5’s interior is attractive, sexy and build in harmony. The design and high-quality materials are sculpted in the cabin. Comfort is as much a priority as performance. The sport front seats offer massage and heating option, which will make your driving experience very attractive. They are very confortable and your back feels absorbed while driving and remind us the same feeling you can experience while driving a racing car, even tho, some people say racing cars have very uncomfortable seats.

The visibility from the front is decent and because of the technology features that Audi offers the drive experience is pretty safe. The available surround-view camera system definitely helps when you’re backing out of a parking space.

Technology

The graphics on Audi’s 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system are sharp and vibrant. Audi’s Virtual Cockpit, a configurable fully digital instrument panel, can display just about anything you want with all the information you want. We would love to display the Apple CarPlay options on it, but we are sure Audi is working on it right now and in future automobiles this option once day will see the light on it.

The navigation system is one of our favorites feature in Audi because it’s easy to use and we love the 3D display. The voice controls also work pretty well, and while they’re not quite conversational, the commands come close and have a good range of features. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration is standard.

Safety

Audi is one of the safest cars in the market with a high rating of safety awards. Our S5 comes standard with antilock disc brakes, stability and traction control, knee and full-duration airbags, and side curtain airbags. It comes with a blind-spot monitoring system that Audi calles Audi Side Assist, adapted cruise control system, and pre sense or pre collision system front and rear. To add the cherry on the top of the cake, Quattro – The best AWD system in the market.

On the highway

This turbocharged V6 is unique. Acceleration is quick, steady and satisfying.

The S5’s sport suspension is firm in the corners, though it feels a little heavy near its limits, making it less sporty and more of a sports tourer. The brakes work well to stop all that speed, offering relatively consistent performance in dynamic situations, but they’re just as easy and smooth-acting during a casual ride.

Our Verdict

The S5 Sportback is a balanced automobile, it’s an Audi 🙂 both in performance and luxury. It’s a beautiful vehicle inside and out, with easy to use controls and enjoyable, especially if you want to drive it on winding roads, without sacrificing comfort or luxury.
