2019 Toyota Camry XLE V6 – America’s Favorite Car is Back and Bolder
Few cars are as ubiquitous as the Camry. Over the past three decades, the Camry has been a consistent car that continues to have a mass appeal. It is reliable, looks good, and has all the safety features you’d want from a daily driver with the 2019 Camry boasting of cosmetics worthy of a sports sedan.
The 2019 Toyota Camry XLE V6 is just as reliable as its predecessor, except for that it looks better than all previous generations, and that’s because it is competing against the likes of the Volkswagen Passant, Kia Optima, and Mazda6. So, the question is, should you buy the 2019 Toyota Camry XLE V6? That’s a question we’ll aim to answer in this review.
Distinctive Styling with Youthful Appeal
While the last generation of the Toyota Camry was a little grown-up, this one’s sharper, with more athletic curves that give it a more upmarket feeling. While some may think it is a bit more busy, others like us will find that at least Toyota isn’t playing it safe which is a good thing.
The styling is aggressive, and that’s what makes the 2019 Toyota Camry XLE V6 stand out. Not only that, but it is appealing to the vast number of youngsters who may now prefer the Camry over the competition.
Bold Cabin Design
Toyota has taken that same exterior aggressive aesthetic and carried it over to the cabin. The asymmetrical dashboard with smooth lines almost does not even feel like it’s a Camry. The cabin itself feels luxurious, the black trim piece around the infotainment system, and that on the dash adds to the luxurious feeling.
The 2019 Camry continues in the tradition of offering a spacious cabin. Unless you’re an NBA player, the cabin is spacious enough, with good front and back headroom to accommodate most Americans. It feels more spacious than the Mazda6 we’ve been driving for a while, and that’s a very good thing.
Modern Tech for the 2019 Camry
Its good news for all Camry buyers is the latest Entune 3.0 system has made it to the 7.0 touchscreen infotainment system. The new system now supports Apple CarPlay, and WiFi, along with a standard set of USB ports. Our only gripe, if you can call it, that is no support for Android Auto. But for most people including ourselves, it isn’t exactly a deal-breaker.
On the Road Performance
The 3.6-liter V6 engine makes the 2019 Toyota Camry the most entertaining we’ve driven to date. It feels like a muscle car but drives like a luxury sedan with 301 horsepower and a healthy 267 lb/ft of torque. It’s a hair more power as compared to the Mazda6, Altima and the Accord.
The V6 purrs like a kitten and outputs a decent amount of power, which makes cutting through traffic and breezing through long stretches of the road a breeze a pleasure. It also packs enough power for juvenile wheel spins, aka burnouts, and though we didn’t give it a shot, we’re pretty sure it can easily be pulled off.
Final Verdict
The 2019 Toyota Camry XLE V6 proves that the company has put a lot of stock in their midsized sedan. While the Camry is capable of everything, it continues to be the best daily driver out there with excellent resale value. The bonus is that it no longer looks dull and is fun to drive.
