2018 Infiniti Q60 Red Sport 400 AWD – A Beautiful Beast That Requires Further Taming
The 2018 Infiniti Q60 Red Sport 400 AWD is one of the most beautiful machines we’ve driven in a while. It makes BMW’s 4 Series look like something out of Grandpa’s era and out angles the A5 like a champ. It is a head turner, and it’s not hard to see why so many stop to grab a look at its cherry red exterior. The design is well thought of, sophisticated with bulging fenders, a double arch grille and chrome accents that draws an onlooker’s eyes away from the otherwise plastic like covering across the Infiniti logo.
The 2018 Infiniti Q60 Red Sport 400 AWD also comes with an optional carbon fiber package which ramps up the aggression with side skirts, vents, and an aggressive fiber lip spoiler. Plus, there is also the optional Dynamic Sunstone Red paint job which enhances the look of the vehicle. However, the otherwise $800 paint job is reserved for the Red Sports trim which matches the red brake calipers perfectly. The Red Sports trim is precisely the trim we are reviewing today.
Comfort and Interior Design
The interior continues the tradition of being drool worthy with its selection of optional white leather seats, lined with so-called silver optic fiber on the dash and door panels. That coupled with the accented lined black leather steering wheel and dash put the interior right up there with the established big boys of the luxury car industry.
The adjustable sports seats can be adjusted in 8 different ways and are extremely comfortable with ample legroom for any size driver and passengers. Most will find the headroom plentiful while the interior is whisper quiet thanks to state of the art Bose Active Noise Cancellation system which comes standard across the entire 2018 Infiniti Q60 Red Sport 400 AWD trim line.
Tech Selection
The 2018 Infiniti Q60 Red Sport 400 AWD comes with the standard InTuition central command or control unit which sports two screens instead of the one you see on other competing vehicles. The top screen is mainly for InTouch navigation while the other handles operating the HVAC system, radio, and a bunch of other features.
The system isn’t as refined as the competition. The graphics are dated, and the dial controller is pointless. Plus, the touch responsiveness isn’t the best. A lack of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are considerable blunders in this day and age.
On the Road Performance ⠀
The 2018 Infiniti Q60 Red Sport 400 AWD’s 3.0-liter V6 delivers excellent power in a lag-free package with 400 horses and around 350 lbs-ft of torque. It is a genuinely powerful machine especially in a straight line with 4.5 seconds to hit 60 mph from a standstill.
The Sport mode has a little extra punch to it with improved throttle response and tighter upshifts. You can also adjust the driving as per your preferences using the Personal Mode which allows you to customize everything from the suspension to the steering individually.
Final Verdict
The 2018 Infiniti Q60 Red Sport 400 AWD is a gorgeous looking vehicle and even better than the G35 and G37 Coupes. But though it looks good and performs flawlessly is not right up there with the competition namely the A5 in the performance department. That said it offers a unique combo of excellent head-turning beauty, power, and comfort that’s hard to match without compromising one for the other in this price range.
