2020 Mazda CX5 Signature – The Premium Pint Sized Crossover is Back!
The 2020 Mazda CX5 Signature is now in its second generation. While it is certainly not the newest vehicles in Mazda’s lineup of cars, but it has undoubtedly beefier as compared to when it was first launched in 2017.
The Mazda CX5 is only available in the 2.5-liter naturally aspired engine variant, that produces 187 hp and a pretty decent 186 lb-ft of torque. While the specs may not light up the faces of most Mazda fans in the US, reading this the fact is that in our experience things are actually pretty good. However, you’ll need to opt for the range-topping model for the most power pushed through with a turbocharged engine.
The Best-Looking Crossover We’ve Seen in a While
The Mazda CX5 has always been stunning to look at and never fails to turn heads. The 2020 Mazda CX5 Signature is no different. Not only do we think it is arguably the best looking of all the crossovers this year but it also well built.
The aggressive grille, with 19-inch wheels, and those curves that meet across the back to form the taillights easily make it stand out from rivals like the Ford Escape, Honda CR-V and the Toyota RAV4. However, we understand that looks alone isn’t the only reason you’d want to buy an SUV. We assure you there is a lot more to this package than a pretty face.
Luxury on the Inside
We spent some time with the Signature model, which had a stunning and very luxurious feeling to it. The seats boast of durable Nappa leather, with a smooth touch. The door panels and dashboard are graced by real wood. The contrasting stitching helps to liven things up, with very soft and we must add attractive use of plastic.
The Signature model comes with an eight-way adjustable power seat on the driver’s side. Both seats in the front are heated, and they are ventilated. Not to mention the seats are incredibly plush and comfortable. We tested the butt-warmers, and within seconds it casts that chill away, even in the depth of winter.
The heads-up display is standard but well designed while keeping the driver informed of all the traffic signs, ensuring that you always know the speed limit.
Also on the Signature trim, you get power-folding side-view mirrors and heated mirrors, both of which are handy features. Another handy feature is the de-icer for the windshield which is going to be very helpful for people who drive in winter a lot.
Final Verdict – Should You Get It?
The sophisticated looks of the 2020 Mazda CX5 Signature is justifiably matched with refined and very comfortable driving experience. Despite how sensitive we are to external noise and vibration, we were never able to feel most vibrations, hear noises from the outside, and that added to the overall experience. It is one of the best-made SUVs you can buy for the money and with 22 MPG for city driving and 27 MPG on the highway, it does not get any better than this!
